A second round of talks between America and Iran may be held within days

The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing officials, that a second round of talks between the United States and Iran may be held within days, noting that “the door to diplomacy is still open despite the tough statements of Tehran and Washington.” The newspaper reported that regional officials familiar with the matter said, “The countries of the region are rushing to bring the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table after the marathon peace talks ended in Islamabad without reaching an agreement.”

The officials added that despite the tough statements from the United States and Iran, the door to diplomacy remains open, and a second round of talks could be held within days. They also noted that “countries in the region are consulting with the United States to secure an extension of the fragile two-week ceasefire period, which was announced late on Tuesday evening.”

This comes after US Vice President J.D. Vance announced that no agreement had been reached between America and Iran during the Islamabad talks, which were held on Saturday, stressing that “Iran chose not to accept American conditions.”

For his part, US President Donald Trump revealed that the US Navy will begin imposing a naval blockade on the Strait of Hormuz with immediate effect, by stopping all ships trying to enter or leave it.
