"Al Nawader Reserve" An exceptional destination at the Sheikh Zayed Festival

Abu Dhabi, January 18, 2025 – Al Nawader Wildlife Secrets Wildlife Sanctuary, as part of the Sheikh Zayed Festival 2024-2025, hosts a group of rare animals and endangered birds, attracting visitors from all over the world.
In a qualitative step this year, the reserve now extends over an area of 7,000 square meters, with the support of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, after its area was 2,000 square meters in the previous session, which strengthens its position as a major destination for the public.
Mohammed Al Zarouni, representative of the Al Nawader Reserve, said that the reserve aims to educate the public about the importance of preserving rare animals, explaining that some of these animals can be acquired or raised in accordance with the environmental laws in force in the UAE.
He added that the reserve displays a group of rare mutations of tigers in various colors, including orange, white, “snow white,” Siamese, and “golden tegu,” which reflects the unique animal diversity it offers.
He explained that the reserve seeks to shed light on endangered species. They are prepared to coexist with humans and other animals in a harmonious environment, pointing to the reserve’s success in enabling coexistence between multiple species such as cheetahs, tigers, dogs and leopards, which reflects an innovative model in the field of wildlife protection.
He stated that representatives of the Guinness World Records visited the reserve and expressed their admiration for the presence of five rare species of animals in one place, which is a source of pride for the young Emirati people in charge of it.
For his part, Mohammed Al-Ghunaim, the specialist trainer in the reptile department, said that the department includes an exceptional collection of rare reptiles and mutants that are threatened with extinction, and is making strenuous efforts to preserve them and ensure that they remain in excellent health, which contributes to achieving the reserve’s ultimate goal of preserving biological diversity.
He added that one of the most prominent species included in the section is the Sommo Monitor lizard, which is distinguished by its rare black color and is considered one of the largest reptiles after the Komodo dragon. It can reach 3 meters in length, explaining that the section includes a small individual of this species that is only half a meter long and is one year and seven months old.
He pointed out that the section also displays the ringwana, which is a rare reptile that lives in the Caribbean Sea and is distinguished by the presence of 3 horns on its face. It is classified as a first-class endangered species, and its presence in the Arab world is limited to only 16, two of which are in the festival.
Regarding snakes, Al-Ghunaim said that the pavilion includes the “Super Phantom Mexican Albino”, which is distinguished by its white color and blue eyes, and is one of the extremely rare mutations, pointing out that the presence of these snakes in the Arab world is limited to only 6, and all of them are present in the pavilion, as well as Other types, such as “Retex Bot Tiger” and “Bot Tiger Simfire Platinum”, of which there are no more than 3 in the Arab world.
He pointed out that the pavilion also includes the white Siamese crocodile, which is one of the rarest endangered species of crocodile. Its native habitat is the Philippines, and it has been exposed to the risk of extinction due to the trade in its skins. The number of crocodiles remaining in the world ranges between 80 and 120 only, explaining that the crocodile displayed in the pavilion may be the only one of its kind in the Arab world.
In the context of the diversity of distinctive animals, Al Nawader Wildlife Secrets Reserve displays a group of rare birds such as the Hyacinth Macaw and the Palm Cockatoo, in addition to a falcon-headed bird, and a group of distinctive mammals such as Daxstar bulls and black llamas. And the Irish virgin gazelle, as well as the black and white gazelle, the reem gazelle, and the African and Arabian oryx, with the appearance of a newborn gazelle called “Al-Wathba.”
The reserve offers about 30 various activities, including a cat lounge, a display of huge life-sized statues of the Asian elephant, a jungle ceremony, a squirrel house, and a tropical forest, in addition to a photography room, feeding experiments with wild and domestic animals, horse riding, visiting the monkey house, and the bird house, in addition to a café. Anecdotes that offers a unique view of the rare white tiger.
