Khalifa University honors 24 members of the Young Future Energy Leaders Program

Abu Dhabi, January 20 / WAM / Khalifa University of Science and Technology honored 24 members of the Young Future Energy Leaders Program 2024, the pioneering training initiative that was launched in 2010, with the aim of providing opportunities for its student members and young professionals to reach the best global pioneers, executives and academics involved in the fields of energy. The 24 members of the Young Leaders for Future Energy Program 2024 are divided into 15 male and 9 male members from 6 different nationalities who belong to two local universities and 8 international universities, which shows the global interest that the program enjoys among students and young people interested in clean energy and sustainability.

The 2024 batch of the Young Future Energy Leaders Program includes 14 international students from outside the Emirates, which confirms the comprehensiveness of the program.

The graduates join a large group of more than 600 former graduates of the Young Future Energy Leaders Program who are leading new initiatives in sustainability and clean energy.

Professor Bayan Sharif, Chief Academic Officer at Khalifa University, said that the Young Future Energy Leaders Program is one of the pioneering initiatives that has proven its efficiency and has also been able to prepare future leaders capable of ensuring the continuity of initiatives in the fields of sustainability and clean energy.

He pointed out that the Young Future Energy Leaders Program is characterized by its many aspects that enhance its ability to attract on a global level, as is evident from the diversity of nationalities of the program’s current and former members. In this context, these distinguished students and fully equipped young specialists will contribute to addressing challenges and providing sustainable solutions. Through the knowledge they gained from the program.

The Young Leaders for Future Energy Program included major activities within the German-Emirati Sustainability Days conference, which included discussions, plenary sessions, and interactive dialogues between relevant Emirati officials, representatives of the German industrial sector, and program members.

A competition was organized to prepare a case study focusing on addressing the challenges related to misalignment in wireless charging systems for electric vehicles, and the winners of this competition were 13 contestants who were selected based on their outstanding research, understanding and commitment to the program objectives.

Members of the Young Future Energy Leaders Program for the year 2024 completed six projects that reflected their involvement in sustainability and clean energy technologies. These projects included “Sustainable Urban Design for Public Transport in Abu Dhabi,” “Smart Technologies for Detecting Errors in Solar Panels,” and “Carbon Retention, Utilization and Storage: Developments.” “Challenges and future prospects in the UAE,” “Developments in steam cracking of methane gas to produce hydrogen and graphene,” and “Encouraging Emirati families to install solar panels.” Rooftop solar panel and carbon footprint tracker.

Rawda Al Qubaisi, an Emirati student from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Khalifa University, praised the Young Future Energy Leaders Program, which provided her with the opportunity to communicate with others and enhance her knowledge level.

Kai Zhuang, who comes from China and is a student at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and participant in the program, pointed out that the Young Future Energy Leaders Program provided many distinguished workshops, great support from the trainers, and was distinguished by its tight organization.
