المملكة: “Agricultural Extension” calls on livestock breeders to apply preventive measures during the winter

The Agricultural Extension of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture called on livestock breeders to take preventive measures to protect their animals from the harmful effects of cold winds and rainwater that increase during the winter.
The agricultural extension recommended the need to use insulating materials in barns to ensure a warm and safe environment, which contributes to the prevention of cold diseases that may affect the health and productivity of livestock.

The Ministry stressed the importance of choosing effective insulation materials to cover the walls and ceilings, in addition to maintaining the barns periodically to ensure that there are no gaps that may allow cold air to enter.
She also stressed the importance of keeping barns clean and dry to avoid the formation of moisture that contributes to the exacerbation of respiratory diseases among livestock.

Ventilation sources

As part of strengthening prevention efforts, agricultural extension recommended providing appropriate ventilation sources inside barns to ensure the flow of fresh air without exposure to extreme cold, with a focus on providing energy-rich feed that helps animals cope with low temperatures.

This directive comes within the Ministry’s plan to support breeders and improve livestock breeding conditions, in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in enhancing food security and improving animal production.
