The number of flood victims in Indonesia has risen to 21 people

The number of victims of floods and landslides that struck the main island of Java in Indonesia rose to 21 people, after rescuers recovered four additional bodies on Wednesday after resuming searches for missing persons.
Overflowing river water swept away nine villages in the Pekalongan district of Central Java province, and landslides poured into mountain villages after heavy rains on Monday.
National Disaster Management Agency spokesman Abdul Mahari said the floods caused a landslide that buried two houses and a cafe in the Betongkryon resort area.
The combined disasters resulted in the destruction of 25 homes, a dam and three main bridges linking villages in Pekalongan, while at least 13 people were injured, and nearly 300 people were forced to flee to temporary government shelters.
Search and rescue operations, which were hampered by bad weather conditions, mudslides and rugged terrain, were halted on Tuesday afternoon due to heavy rain and dense fog that made the affected areas along the rivers dangerous for rescue teams.
