A 5.2 magnitude earthquake strikes Fukushima, Japan

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Japan’s Fukushima Prefecture and surrounding areas this morning, and no tsunami warning was issued.

Kyodo News quoted the Japanese Meteorological Agency as saying that the earthquake registered 5 on the Japanese earthquake intensity scale of 7, noting that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 4 kilometers.

Tokyo Electric Power Holdings, operator of the Fukushima Daiichi and Daini nuclear power plants, said no malfunctions had been detected since the quake.
