Pope Francis is a partner in the brotherhood document

The Emir of the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al -Tayeb, Sheikh of Al -Azhar Al -Sharif, expressed great sadness in the loss of His Holiness Pope Francis, who left our world yesterday, after a busy march in the service of humanity and defending the common values ​​between humans.

His Eminence confirmed, in a statement yesterday, that Pope Francis “was a brother in humanity, and a global symbol of his counterpart in devotion to the issues of the poor and the oppressed, and supporting dialogue between religions and cultures”, praising his pioneering role in consolidating the culture of peace, and his rejection of all forms of hatred and extremism.

The Sheikh of Al -Azhar pointed out that the relations between Al -Azhar and the Vatican witnessed a great development during the era of Pope Francis, starting from his attendance at the Al -Azhar International Peace Conference in 2017, to the signing of the human brother’s document in Abu Dhabi in 2019, which represented a joint declaration of the commitment of human values, tolerance and cooperation between all the peoples of the world.
