The Film Commission organizes a workshop on “Fundamentals of Film Production” in Arar
The Film Commission announces the organization of an in-person workshop entitled “Fundamentals of Film Production,” which aims to develop the skills of filmmakers in the Kingdom and enhance their knowledge of the stages of film production and presenting them to the international market.
The workshop will be held from January 26 to 30, 2025 in the city of Arar, with the participation of 30 to 40 trainees interested in the field of filmmaking.
Fundamentals of film production
The workshop will be presented by film producer Habib Attia, general manager of Cinetifilms, which is one of the most prominent film production companies in the region.
Attia has long experience in producing international award-winning films and participating in prestigious film festivals.
The workshop will address multiple topics covering all stages of film production, starting from the development stage and improving the content, through preparation, financing, and pre-production, and ending with production, post-production, and finishing the film.
Supporting national talent
This workshop comes within the efforts of the Film Commission to support national talent and develop the film industry sector in the Kingdom in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
The Authority has set precise criteria for selecting participants, including proficiency in the English language and having a basic background and interest in filmmaking.
Training in film journalism
In the same context, the Film Commission announced the organization of a virtual training workshop under the title “Cinematic Journalism” during the period from January 22 to 24, 2025.
She explained that the workshop targets a selected group of trainees, numbering between 12 and 15 trainees, and also aims to develop knowledge and skills in the field of film journalism in its print, visual and audio forms.
Focus on the importance of constructive criticism
The workshop also seeks to clarify the difference between artistic criticism and personal opinion, with a focus on the importance of constructive criticism and its major role in developing films and enhancing cinematic awareness among the audience.
It also sheds light on the foundations of journalistic writing in the field of cinema, including media follow-up of cinematic events and festivals, film reviews, and specialized critical reading of cinematic works.
