The 26th session of the Ismailia Documentary Film Festival was named after director Ali Al-Ghazouli

The management of the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentary and Short Films, headed by director Hala Galal, announced today, Friday, that its 26th session, scheduled for the period from 5 to 11 February, will be named after the great director Ali Al-Ghazouli, in honor of his outstanding contributions to the field of documentary cinema, which… It made him one of the most important pioneers of this art in Egypt and the Arab world.

 

The Ismailia Festival administration stated The Cinematographer for Documentary Films, in a statement today, Friday, said that Ali Al-Ghazouli, known as the poet of documentary cinema, was distinguished by his works that documented many aspects of Egyptian life. 

 

Al-Ghazouli received a diploma Media Art in 1960, and he obtained a doctorate in cinematography from the Experimental Cinema Center in Rome in 1961. He began his career as a director of photography for feature and documentary films in 1962, before moving on to He joined Egyptian television in 1966, where he specialized in directing documentaries, and later took over the management of documentaries, editing, and animation on Egyptian television during the 1980s.

 

Among his most prominent works is the film “Hunting.” The succulent" Which won the Golden Award at the Carthage Film Festival in 1990, and the film “Rais Jaber” Winner of the Silver Award at the Damascus International Film Festival in 1993, and the film “The Wise of Saint Catherine” Who won the Golden Award at the National Festival in Ismailia in 1988.

 

During his artistic career, Al-Ghazouli received the "Medal of Excellence" In 1986, the “Order of Sciences and Arts” In the first class in 1994, in addition to dozens of local and international awards.

 

As part of this honor, the festival will present a special program entitled “A Look at History,” presenting a selection of The most prominent films of the great director Ali Al-Ghazouli, to highlight his rich artistic legacy and his influential role in the development of documentary cinema.
