Trump dismisses 17 independent inspectors general

An informed source said that US President Donald Trump dismissed 17 independent inspectors general working in several government agencies the day before yesterday, which eliminates an important supervisory element and paves the way for their replacement with those loyal to him.
The source, who requested anonymity, said that inspectors in agencies including the Ministries of State, Defense, and Transportation received notifications via emails from the White House Director of Personnel Affairs that their services had been terminated with immediate effect.
The dismissals appear to violate federal law that requires Congress to receive 30 days notice of the grounds for dismissal, and the White House has not yet responded to a request for comment.
