The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Communications Authority, Matar Al -Tayer, revealed that the commercial transport sector, which is supervised by the authority, achieved exceptional performance indicators in 2024, where the number of companies operating in the sector increased from 9,000 companies, to 12100 companies, recording growth of 34 % Compared to 2023, and the number of vehicles registered in the commercial and logistical transport sector increased by more than 100 thousand vehicles, bringing the total number of vehicles to more than 400 thousand vehicles, recording a growth of 31% compared to 2023.
Al -Tayer stressed that the achieved results are the result of the implementation of the authority, the best global practices, improving commercial licensing services, developing the organizational framework and governance of the transport and leasing activities sectors in proportion to the best global practices, cooperation and joint work with strategic partners in the sector, in addition to the development initiatives of the car rental sector And other initiatives and projects for the commercial transport sector, in line with the vision of good leadership (may God protect it) in strengthening the emirate’s position as a leading global destination for money, business and economics, and in implementation of the commercial and logistical transport strategy in the Emirate of Dubai 2030, which aims to double the direct contribution of the commercial and logistical transport sector The wilderness in the emirate’s economy, to 16.8 billion dirhams, raising the percentage of technology adoption in the sector’s infrastructure by 75%, lowering carbon emissions by 30%, and improving operating efficiency by 10%.
He said: The commercial transportation activities sector is one of the vital and important sectors, and it constitutes the backbone of the economic and commercial movement in the Emirate of Dubai, and contributes to achieving the Dubai Economic Agency: (D33), aimed at consolidating the position of the Emirate of Dubai, as it is one of the three best economic cities in the world, as It contributes to pushing the growth wheel in the emirate, the continuity of the flow of goods and global supply chains, and enhancing the reputation and competitiveness of the emirate, in addition to social and positive impacts on other sectors.
The commercial and logistical transportation strategy was launched in the Emirate of Dubai 2030, in cooperation with strategic partners and private sector companies in the field of commercial transport, and in its preparation it was taken into consideration to enhance the competitiveness of the commercial transport sector compared to the developed countries in this field, to achieve three main goals: the effectiveness of costs , And by measuring the total cost of each kilometer, adopting modern technology in infrastructure, average age of the fleet, and achieving safety and security by reducing the annual accidents of the sector.
The strategy contributes to achieving the strategic goals of the authority by removing business barriers, simplifying regulations and requirements, modernizing the fleet into vehicles with zero emissions, supporting small and medium -sized companies in the business market, and raising the sector’s preparations to adopt modern technologies for future transportation faster.
The commercial and logistical transport strategy has identified 17 projects, contributing to supporting the growth of the sector and companies, increasing its competitiveness through markets and electronic platforms and the use of data and technology, the operation of modern vehicles with better performance, and its encouragement to adopt innovative methods and future technologies.
