Sharjah Heritage Days start February 12 with wide global participation

Sharjah, January 27 / WAM / The 22nd edition of Sharjah Heritage Days, organized by the Sharjah Heritage Institute will start from February 12 to 23 under the slogan “roots” to highlight the originality of the Emirati heritage and highlight the depth of the cultural and historical extension that links the past to the present through A variety of events and heritage activities that celebrate the customs, traditions and cultural heritage in a scene that embodies the national identity and enhances communication between generations.
The activities of the days this year will extend to seven cities in the Emirate of Sharjah, where it begins in Sharjah from 12 to 23 February and is later distributed in the cities of Khor Fakkan, Maliha, Al -Hamriya, Al -Dhaid, Kalba and Dibba Al -Hosn, which gives visitors the opportunity to explore different aspects of heritage in various environments.
His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al -Muslim, President of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, confirmed during a press conference held today at the headquarters of the Arab Heritage Center of the Institute that “Sharjah Heritage Days” reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah in preserving heritage and promoting the cultural identity of generations Next.
He said that since its inception, the days of Sharjah Heritage formed a global platform for the preservation of human heritage, as it is not limited to highlighting the Emirati heritage, but also contributes to extending bridges of communication with the different cultures of the world. The masses are among a variety of programs that suit all age groups, as the slogan “roots” reflects the importance of heritage as fixed roots from which our identity and culture emerged, which is the embodiment of the spirit of belonging and ancientism that enriches our present and illuminates our future.
He added that the 22nd session witnesses record participation from countries, academic bodies and international institutions, which reflects the increasing importance of this event, which has become one of the most prominent heritage demonstrations at the level of the Arab world, pointing out that the new in this version is to enhance the interactive experience of visitors by creating new spaces for events and launching projects Quality cultural such as ‘Al -Ketbain Market’ and the celebration of ‘libraries’ festivals in addition to expanding the scope of the participation of popular teams, craftsmen and artists to enrich the heritage scene in a creative way.
For his part, Abu Bakr Al -Kindi, the general coordinator of Sharjah Heritage Days, said that the Sharjah Heritage Institute is working to develop this demonstration annually to be an educational and knowledge platform that celebrates the past and simulates the present and keeps pace with the future and we invite everyone to participate in this unique celebration and enjoy an exceptional experience that beats with the spirit of authentic heritage.
He pointed out that the days of Sharjah Heritage 2025 are one of the most prominent cultural events in the region and a global destination that combines heritage and modernity in a celebration that celebrates roots and draws future features.
He added that more than 26 countries, including the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, participate alongside a group of Arab and international countries such as Morocco, Palestine, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, China, Russia, Germany, France, Georgia and the Netherlands, which enhances the global dimension of the festival and confirms the position of the Emirate of Sharjah as the capital of culture and human heritage.
More than 30 local and international government agencies include academic institutions, federal ministries and cultural and heritage bodies in addition to international organizations such as UNESCO, Ikrom – Sharjah and the International Organization for Folklore “IOV” and the International Council of Folklor Festival Organizations “CIOFF” and others that reflect the great momentum Which the event has at the local and international levels.
The new events in this session include many distinct additions, most notably the opening of the “Al -Sarah Square” as an additional space for events, festive ceremonial first library in Sharjah since 1925, and the launch of the “Al Ketbien Market”, which includes more than 12 libraries and 6 publishing houses besides hosting 150 craftsmen from all over The world, in addition to the largest show for the Al -Ayala group, with the participation of 300 popular artists and a group of theatrical and heritage performances such as “The Palm Symphony”, and the presentation of the play “Dates of Ark” and the children’s play “Al -Amani Island” as well as “Al -Ayyam Cinema” that reviews films of a heritage and cultural nature.
The days also host the “eighth Gulf Dama”, in addition to three main exhibitions. With regard to popular arts, 27 popular teams include 7 Arab teams, 15 Emirati teams and 5 international teams.
