"Sharjah Arts" Launching its program for spring 2026


Sharjah, 9 February / WAM / The Sharjah Art Foundation launched its Spring 2026 programme, which includes two exhibitions in Al Mureij Square, namely “What Time Comes With, Time Keeps” by the artist Jorge Takla, and “A Kiss of the Sun” by the artist Ahed Al Amoudi, and they will continue during the period from February 8th until next June 7th.
Sheikha Nawar Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, said that the spring program was opened with the exhibitions “What Time Comes With, Time Keeps” and “A Kiss of the Sun,” which invite us to contemplate images and stories, and the way they contribute to shaping our understanding of our surroundings and our human selves.
She added that the cooperation with Jorge extends over many years, since his participation in the 10th Sharjah Biennial about 15 years ago, when he displayed works from his “Ruins” series, noting that the “Qibla Shams” exhibition confirms the Foundation’s vision of supporting young artists in the region and giving them a space to develop their authentic artistic voices.
She praised the efforts of the artists and curators and their role in the success of organizing these exhibitions, extending her thanks to the Sharjah Art Foundation team, especially the assistant curators Amal Al-Ali and Abdullah Al-Janahi, and to the exhibition designers Sarah Al-Omrani, Abdullah Al-Khouri, Maria Kalajji, and Nethra Ganesan.
Jorge Takla’s exhibition, which is the most extensive in his artistic career, provides a comprehensive reading of an experience spanning more than 40 years, during which he addressed issues of violence, memory, and power.
It deals with works inspired by the artist’s experience in New York during the 1980s, the desert, and symbolic architectural landmarks, while the “Sun Kiss” exhibition by artist Ahed Al Amoudi explores the aspects of rapid transformation in the Gulf landscape, through modern works and artistic commissions that address elements of daily life and popular culture.
The opening was attended, in addition to Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Foundation, and Sheikha Nawar Al Qasimi, Director of the Foundation, a number of senior officials and prominent figures, including Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Government Relations, Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Aisha Rashid bin Dimas, Chairman of the Environment and Natural Reserves Authority, Maysaa Saif Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Museums Authority, and Nasser Al Darmaki, Deputy Director of the ICCROM Regional Center in Sharjah. Along with the Foundation’s team, curators and designers involved in organizing the exhibitions, stressing the Foundation’s keenness to support artists and enable them to develop their original artistic performances, and to provide a space for visitors to interact with contemporary works of art through an experience that combines the aesthetic and contemplative dimensions.
The exhibitions are part of the Foundation’s annual program, within the framework of enhancing the artistic presence in Sharjah and providing the public with the opportunity to interact with contemporary works of art and an artistic experience that combines contemplation and artistic beauty.
