South Korea exports fell 10.3% in January

On February 1 / WAM / Today’s data showed that South Korea’s exports ended a series of gains that lasted 15 months in January, due to the decrease in the number of working days, on the occasion of the new lunar holiday.
Exports shipments decreased by 10.3% from the previous year, to record 49.1 billion dollars last month, according to the data gathered by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Imports decreased by 6.4% on an annual basis to record $ 51 billion, which led to a commercial deficit of $ 1.89 billion, which is the first deficit in 20 months.
Semiconductor exports increased by 8.1% to $ 10.1 billion, which is the second highest amount in January.
Car exports decreased by 19.6% to 5 billion dollars, as production was severely affected by the long vacation and the low demand for diesel and electric cars.
