Approving the list of candidates to win the Mohammed Bin Rashid International Water Award

The Board of Trustees of the Emirates Foundation, the Emirates Foundation, approved the list of candidates to win the fourth session of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Prize for Water.

The members of the Council noted the innovations participating in the award, and the concentration of candidates on investing the latest vital technology and technical innovations, such as artificial intelligence, reverse osmosis, membranes, and water extraction from the air.

The secretaries of the Emirates water pointed out that the quality of the participating technologies confirms the role of the award in motivating companies, research centers, institutions and innovators to harness innovation and the latest technologies to produce, sweeten, purify, or distort water, advance sustainable development, and find solutions to the global water crisis.

The fourth session of the award received participating requests from 46 countries from all over the world.

The prize, with a total of one million dollars, and supervised by the Emirates Symia Foundation, aims to encourage the development of projects, technologies and innovative models in the field of production, desalination and purification of water using renewable energy sources that include: solar energy, wind energy, biomass, and water energy , Dyelid energy, Earth’s thermal energy.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Emirates Foundation, Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayer, said that “the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Award for Water contributes to strengthening Dubai’s position as a global incubator for innovation and an important influence in improving the quality of people’s lives everywhere, through its role in Establishing the role of innovation and technology to provide sustainable solutions to challenge water scarcity, cause a positive impact and a major societal impact, secure clean and safe water for deprived societies in the world, allowing members of these societies to invest their time to achieve their aspirations and build their capabilities, and get rid of diseases caused by the scarcity and pollution of water.

He added: «Millions in the world benefited from the award -winning projects in its previous sessions, especially in the Republic of Kenya, the state of Tanzania, the Republic of Mozambique, the Republic of India, the Republic of Yemen, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Philippine Republic, the Republic of Honduras, the Republic of Indonesia, and the Republic of Laos, the People’s Democratic Democratic, The Republic of Ghana, the Republic of Chile, the Republic of Madagascar, and others.

Besides, the number of beneficiaries of the projects of the “Sakaria Emirates” Foundation, under the umbrella of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Initiatives”, reached 14.9 million beneficiaries since its foundation in 2015 until today.

During the previous sessions of the award, 31 winners from 22 countries around the world were honored, and the award includes four main categories: the innovative projects award, and the categories of small projects and large projects, and the innovation prize in research and development, includes the national authorities and international bodies, and the individual innovation award, It includes the distinguished researchers and youth, and the innovative crises award.
