When asked about possible counter -measures from Europe, Schultz said that “the European Union represents a strong economic zone, and has its own options to move,” noting that the European Union intends to continue economic relations with the United States based on this force.
Schultz had responded to Trump’s statements, in which he said that he was seeking to acquire the island of “Greenland” of the Kingdom of Denmark, and the Panama channel, and included Canada to the United States, and Schultz was the first European leader to remind Trump publicly of the principle of not being bound by the borders, regardless of the side That is trying to do so.
The short visit by Schultz to Britain is one of his last foreign trips before the early parliamentary elections that Germany will witness after three weeks.
This visit comes one day before the unofficial summit of the European Union in Brussels, which will focus mainly on defense policy, and the British Prime Minister, Starmer, is expected to also participate.
For his part, Starmer stressed his desire to strengthen relations between Britain, Germany and the European Union, five years after Britain left the European Union, and stressed that he seeks to create a “new beginning” in relations, but he noted that this new beginning does not include a return to The European bloc, where he said: “We have held a referendum on this here, and the topic has ended.”
Most of the British voted in a 2016 referendum in favor of their country’s exit from the European Union, the decision that is officially entered into force five years before today.
Starmer explained that he aspires to re -deepen relations with the European Union, especially in the fields of defense, security, economy and trade, considering that this serves the interests of the two sides, and pointed out that there were some matters that have already been achieved in this regard during the last seven months of his term, and Starmer thanked Goltes.
