45 million downloads for"Falcon" Emirati artificial intelligence

Dubai, February 5/ WAM/ Dr. Hakim Husaid, the chief researcher in the artificial intelligence unit of the Institute of Technology Innovation TII, announced that the series “Falcon” for artificial intelligence exceeded 45 million globally, which reflects the increasing demand for these models that are used on a scale Wide by companies, institutions and government agencies around the world.

This achievement comes to confirm the leadership of Abu Dhabi in the field of obstetric intelligence, especially with the world’s tendency to adopt advanced artificial intelligence techniques in various sectors.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency, “WAM”, during the second day of the “AI Intelligence” event in Expo Dubai, Husid said that the “Falcon” models are receiving wide attention from government agencies and major companies, where more than 20 government agencies use them to develop their digital solutions The institute also holds talks with seven countries to discuss how to adopt and adapt these models to suit their linguistic and cultural needs.
As for the private sector, Dr. Hasid explained that many parties, whether in the Emirates or at the global level, are used in the development of their own applications.
On the difference between “Falcon” and other models such as “ChatGPT”, Dr. Hasid explained that “Falcon” is characterized by being an open source model, which means that the developers have full access to the model, its amendment, and its use to create their own applications.
He said: “Unlike closed models such as ChatgPT, developers can download Falcon, understand how they work, and build their own applications accordingly, and this gives companies and government agencies great freedom to allocate artificial intelligence to suit their needs, rather than relying on ready solutions that impose restrictions on users.” .
He added: “Most of the” Falcon “users do not interact with him through a conversation interface as is the case in Chatgpt, but rather is integrated into special systems and applications, which makes him not directly visible to ordinary users.
He continued: “The team recently launched a user interface similar to Chatgpt to test the capabilities of the model and make it available to the public.”
He explained that the “Falcon” trip started in 2022, when the researchers’ team began developing an artificial intelligence models based on the latest algorithms, with the aim of creating systems more able to understand texts and interact with data.
Dr. Hasid pointed out that the institute launched the first model of 40 billion pemps in May 2023, as a first step towards building an advanced model that can compete with global models, and after that, a more complex model was launched with a size of 180 billion parameters in August 2023.
He added: “In April 2024, the institute announced” Falcon 2 11B “, which was not limited to understanding the texts, but also included the ability to analyze images and get to know their content, which made him one of the most prominent models of multimedia intelligence.”

He continued: “This step represented a major shift in developing artificial intelligence models, as Falcon can understand the visual scenes, which opens the door to new applications in areas such as security, design, health care, and e -commerce.”
He talked about the fold that came in August 2024, when the research team adopted a new approach to developing models using SSLMS technology, which represented a qualitative shift compared to the traditional structure known as Transformers.
He said: “We were one of the first research teams that adopted this technology in building a large -scale linguistic model, which helped us improve performance and reduce the consumption of computer resources.”
At the end of 2024, the Institute of Technology Innovation had entered a new stage of development, focusing on creating smaller and more efficient models.
This trend resulted in the launch of a new category that surpassed all other models of less than 13 billion pillars in terms of performance, which strengthened the status of “Falcon” in the open source artificial intelligence sector.
