147.8 million passengers across state airports during 2024 a growth of 10%

Abu Dhabi, February 6 / WAM / The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced the registration of the civil aviation sector in the UAE recorded during the year 2024, with the movement of passengers increasing by 10% to 147.8 million passengers, compared to 134 million passengers in 2023.
Air freight also achieved a remarkable growth of 17.8%, to reach 4.36 million tons compared to 3.7 million tons in the past year, which enhances the state’s position as a leading global destination in the field of air transport, as these results reflect sustainable growth and operational efficiency of the sector, along with its vital role In linking the world through state airports.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation said that these numbers are not mere growth indicators, but rather clear evidence of the strength of the aviation sector in the UAE, and its pivotal role in supporting the national economy and enhancing the state’s position as a global center for air transport, shipping and trade Tourism and investment, and this progress would not have been achieved had it not been for the vision of our wise leadership, which established the foundations of a strong and competitive airline sector that succeeded in gaining great confidence by the international community.
His Excellency added that this confidence clearly shows the state’s choice to host the most prominent activities that draw the features of the future of aviation globally, as the capital Abu Dhabi will witness within a few days the largest international gathering of the civil aviation community, as we host the fourth edition of the ICAO World Seminar to support implementation 2025, in conjunction with the launch of the market The global sustainable aviation, an Emirati initiative that seeks to accelerate international efforts to increase the production of sustainable and low -carbon fuel, noting that these activities will constitute milestones in the development of a safe and sustainable system of the aviation sector that starts from the UAE.
For his part, His Excellency Saif Muhammad Al -Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, stressed that the positive indicators achieved by the aviation sector in the country during the year 2024 reflects its increasing strength and competitiveness, and its position as a driving force for economic and social growth, and an essential potential for international civil aviation growth.
He explained that the investments studied in the infrastructure have enabled the sector to keep pace with global demand, and to provide air transport services that are the best regionally and internationally, which contributes to stimulating various economic opportunities.
He added that this continuous growth of the sector’s numbers is evidence of the great efficiency and confidence that the Emirati aviation sector has at the international level.
In detail, the number of arrivals to the state reached 41.6 million passengers, the number of departures is 41.7 million passengers, and the number of transit “transit” 64.4 million passengers.
The sector also witnessed a noticeable increase in the numbers of operating cadres, as the number of pilots reached 9,622 pilots registered in the country, while the number of aircraft crews reached 35,899, along with 4,493 engineers, 461 air observers, and 419 transmission officials.
Regarding the infrastructure, the number of flying operators registered in the country has increased to 36 operators, while the total number of registered aircraft reached 929, including light sports aircraft, including 520 national aircraft.
Air traffic also recorded 1.03 million flights during the year 2024, which is an unprecedented number in the history of air traffic in the country.
