Ukraine “may become Russian one day”

On Monday, US President Donald Trump considered that Ukraine may become “Russian one day”, reaffirming his desire that his country will get huge amounts of rare Ukrainian minerals in exchange for the aid that Kiev provides in its response to the Russian invasion.
“I want our money to be secure because we are spending hundreds of billions of dollars. Perhaps (Ukrainians) will reach an agreement and may not reach it. They may become Russian one day, and they may not become Russian one day,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News.

The Republican President added that he asked Kiev for $ 500 billion of rare minerals that are especially used in the electronics industry.
Trump is seeking a rapid end of the war between Moscow and Kiev, while Ukrainian President Voludimir Zellinski is calling for his country to obtain decisive security guarantees from the United States as part of any peace agreement concluded by Ukraine with Russia.
Trump had confirmed earlier on Monday that Keith Kelog, his special envoy to seek to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine, would soon visit Kiev.
According to a source in the Ukrainian presidency, Kelog will arrive in Kyiv on February 20.
Trump has not confirmed the date of this visit, saying only “yes” in response to a question about whether Kilog will visit Kiev soon.
Last week, Trump announced that he wanted to negotiate with Ukraine on a “agreement” in which its rare minerals were “guaranteed” in exchange for US aid.
In response to this statement, Zellinski said that his country is ready to receive “investments from American companies” in its rare minerals.
