The Health Authority adopts new criteria for organ donation and tissues and cultivation

The Dubai Health Authority has adopted five new criteria for organizing organ donations and tissues and cultivating them, in a strategic step that reflects its continuous commitment to developing the health care sector, applying the best international standards for patient service, and enhancing ethical practices in this field.
This came during the workshop organized by the authority, recently, in cooperation with the Corporation of donation and the transplantation of the members (DTI) in Spain, the National Center for the Regulation of donation and the cultivation of organs and human tissues of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, and in the presence of a group of experts and international specialists, and representatives of private hospitals in the Emirate of Dubai .
The new standards that focus on organ donation services and human tissues, corneal heroes, tissue management and kidney transplant services aim to improve the services provided and raise the success rates of organ transplantation, and ensure the application of the highest safety and quality standards in a way that enhances the consolidation of the position of the United Arab Emirates in general And the Emirate of Dubai in particular as a regional health care center in various fields and medical specialties.
Apply the highest moral and medical standards
Dr. Hanan Ali Obaid, Director of Policy and Health Standards Department at Dubai, stressed the importance of new standards that reflect the authority’s commitment to applying the highest moral and medical standards in the field of organ donation services and their cultivation in order to enhance patient confidence, and to raise their level of satisfaction with the results of the advanced health care they receive in this The field.
She pointed to the continuous improvement and review that the authority undertakes to these standards and its constant keenness to cooperate with various expertise and specialized institutions in this field, to keep pace with global developments, and to adopt the best standards that serve the goals of the authority and enhance Dubai’s competitiveness as an advanced center for health care at the region level.
New standards
Dr. Hanan Obaid explained that the new standards adopted by the authority related to the services of donation of organs and human tissues (for the deceased donor) – the donation after brain death (DBD) – focuses on protocols related to organ donation of donors whose brain deaths were declared, and applied according to legislative frameworks and moral considerations, This guarantees the safety of procedures, and improve Results and outputs of organ transplant services in the emirate.
