Netanyahu decided to occupy the Gaza Strip

Israeli media reported, this evening, Monday, that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a decision to move towards the “occupation of the Gaza Strip”, in a move pushed towards it by ministers on the extreme right, despite the reservations of the security establishment in light of “serious concerns about the lives of the prisoners.”

The Israeli Channel 12 quoted “high -ranking parties in the Prime Minister’s office” that “the decision has taken – Israel is heading towards the occupation of the Gaza Strip.” The same sources added: “Hamas will not be released from more hostages without full surrender, and we will not surrender.”

“If we do not move now, the hostages will die from hunger, and Gaza will remain under the control of Hamas,” the sources added. Under the decision, the Israeli army will be fighting in areas that have been refrained from entering during the past months, including the camps in the center of the Strip, in which prisoners are believed.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (“Kan 11”) stated that the prime minister will hold a security session tomorrow, Tuesday, to discuss expanding the war towards the areas where prisoners are afraid. She stated that “the security establishment contradicts the incursion into the places where hostages are held, for fear of touching their lives.”

The channel quoted a security source familiar with the details of the negotiations as saying: “Israel turns its back for its efforts and waived it too much, as a partial deal with Hamas was very close, but the government quickly retreated, Hamas put obstacles, but the gaps were capable of the bridge.”

The channel added that “ministers spoke with Netanyahu said that he had taken a decision to expand the military operation” in the context of the extermination war launched by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, “despite his dispute with the Israeli army.

“Kan 11” indicated that if the decision was approved officially, it will be “contrary to the position of the army and the chief of staff Eyal Zamir”, and it may pay it, according to the estimates of some ministers, to resign from his position. Zamir believes that “the incursion into areas where hostages are being held greatly exposes their lives.”

In connection with, Zamir canceled a visit to the United States, during which he was scheduled to meet senior officials of the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), and participates in the delivery ceremony of the US Central Command leadership from General Michael Corella.

According to “Kan 11”, the cancellation of the visit came against the background of the collapse of the prisoners ’exchange negotiations, and media leaks from Netanyahu, which indicates that he decided to move towards the occupation of the Gaza Strip, unlike the army’s position and security services.

The “Wint” website reported that US President Donald Trump gave Netanyahu a “green light” to carry out a large -scale military operation in the Gaza Strip. According to the report, the prevailing conviction in both Washington and Tel Aviv is that “Hamas does not want to reach a deal.”

The website of the newspaper “Yediot Aharonot” pointed out that although the Cabinet did not invite the convening during the past days, Netanyahu is holding security consultations and deliberations to discuss ways to continue the war on the Gaza Strip after negotiations stumbled.
