The UAE chairs the 45th meeting of Arab Customs Directors in Cairo

Cairo, February 24/ WAM/ The UAE chaired the 45th meeting of the Arab Customs Directors, which was held today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States with the participation of the heads of Arab customs bodies or their representatives.

His Excellency Alia Mohamed Al -Marmoum, Executive Director of the Customs Affairs Sector – Federal Authority for Identity, Nationality, Customs, and the security of the outlets that chaired the meeting, stressed the importance of the meeting and described it as an important opportunity to be active in making the future of joint Arab customs work.

Al -Marmum said in her speech during the opening session of the meeting that our presence today reflects our leaders ’keenness to discuss issues that would contribute to achieving economic integration and improving the quality of the life of Arab societies.

She pointed out that the meeting also reflects the desire to provide all facilities and make sincere efforts to achieve the dream of Arab peoples in reaching the Arab customs union as an important step in achieving Arab economic unity, in light of great regional and international challenges that require all of us more joint and constructive work.

In conclusion, the meeting thanked the General Secretariat of the Arab League for preparing the project of the Arab Council for Customs Affairs to develop the organizational and institutional framework for the general customs directors meeting in the Arab countries.

The meeting welcomed the establishment of the Arab Council for Customs Affairs, and member states were asked to provide the General Secretariat of the Arab League with its observations on the statute of the council no later than next March 24.

The General Secretariat of the University was assigned to present the statute of the council, including the observations of the member states on it, on the legal affairs sector to review it legally, and to circulate it to member states no later than April 24.

For his part, Tariq Abdullah Bouhmahah, Director of Policy and Customs Affairs Department – Federal Authority for Identity, Nationality, Customs and Ports Security presented a working paper during the 61st meeting of the general customs managers in North Africa and the Near East
