A British arrest held in Thailand a quarter of a century after the end of his tourist visa

Thai police have arrested a British man to exceed his tourist visa period by 25 years, a record period for this type of violations, a senior police official said on Tuesday.
The 60 -year -old, whose identity was not revealed, entered the kingdom in early 2000 with a tourist visa and did not leave the country, and he avoided previous audits conducted by the police, citing that he was in the process of extending his visa.
He was eventually arrested in Xiang Mai in the form of Thailand on Monday, during a campaign carried out by immigration authorities through which they targeted foreigners who exceeded their stay, after more than nine thousand days of his arrival with a 30 -day visit visa.
During the operation, the policemen focused on the regions that foreigners regularly attend, and they signed the British, whose passport was not highlighted.
During the interrogation, he admitted that he came to Thailand with a 30 -day tourist visa in 2000, and he remained in the country until he fell in the grip of the authorities.
“After verifying his name on our immigration system, it was found to us that he had entered Thailand since 2000 and had no other seal on our system since then,” said a senior policeman who participated in the operation.
He added, “His stay in Thailand exceeded 9135 days, which is a record number, after the previous record period was due to a Pakistani man who spent 10 years” after the legal period was exhausted under the visa.
The police pointed out that the man who would be deserted to Britain was even able to renew his passport in 2018, adding that the new document was completely free from the stamps of immigration authorities.
The police said: The man lived in Bangkok, 13 years old, and was linked to a Thai woman from which a child had a child.
They moved to Xiang May 12 years ago for economic reasons, although the police said: The man has no job and lives on his family’s money in Britain.
The police pointed out that the man told her that he had previously avoided arresting by informing the authorities that he was in the process of extending his visa, a claim that can only be verified by the Immigration Office.
