Supporters and opponents to isolate the president … 150,000 demonstrate in South Korea

Protesters and politicians gathered supporters and opponents of the isolated South Korean President Yun Siuk -ol in large-scale marches in the capital Seoul on Saturday, while the Asian state is struggling with the political repercussions of his failed attempt to impose martial law and isolate him later in early December.
The South Korean Yonhap News Agency reported that the demonstrations, which coincided with the anniversary of the Independence Movement called the March 1, against the Japanese colonial rule, came after the Constitutional Court held the final hearing in the trial of Yun’s isolation last Tuesday and the deliberations began on whether it would be isolated from his position or re -assuming him.

Demonstrations in Korea

About 150,000 people gathered in demonstrations from both sides, according to preliminary police estimates, prompting the police to mobilize about 6400 police and 230 police buses to control the crowds.
The demonstrations ended on Saturday evening without major clashes. The demonstrations led by conservative cleric John Kwanj Hun and the conservative group “Save Korea” began near the Guanghoamon Square in the center of Seoul and Yaido in the west of Seoul at one o’clock in the afternoon to oppose Yun’s isolation.

The isolated president

The police estimated the number of participants in the two demonstrations at about 120 thousand people. Dozens of legislators of the ruling People’s Authority Party attended the demonstration in Yaido, including MP Yun Sang-Heion, who gave a message on behalf of the isolated president on the gathering platform.

Meanwhile, the main opposition Democratic Party and four other opposition parties organized a demonstration just one kilometer from the conservative demonstration in the center of Seoul on Saturday afternoon, demanding the dismissal of Yoon from his post.
Lee J-Mayung was the leader of the Democratic Party out of 18,000 people who gathered in a demonstration near the Anjuk subway station, where the Constitutional Court is located, according to informal estimates of the police.

Constitutional system

The Democratic Party said that about 130 deputies participated in the protest. He condemned me the People’s Authority Party, claiming that those who deny the constitutional system and the rule of law cannot be conservative.
At five in the evening, another group of demonstrators who demanded the dismissal of Yoon organized a demonstration in the center of Seoul, where about 15,000 people gathered, according to police estimates.
