24 %decrease in running incidents in Fujairah last year

The Emirate of Fujairah recorded a remarkable decrease in the number of run -over accidents by 24.4%, during the past year, compared to 2023, when the accidents fell from 45 run -over accidents in 2023 to 34 accidents during 2024.
A recent traffic statistic showed, “Emirates Today” obtained a copy of it, that shocking and collision accidents topped the types of traffic accidents with 101 accidents, followed by deterioration accidents with 21 accidents, while one traffic accident was recorded within the “other” category.
Running accidents were mainly focused in the evening period, during which 23 accidents occurred, which resulted in the death of one person, in addition to three severe injuries, nine moderate injuries, and 10 minor injuries, while in the morning period, six runaway accidents were recorded, which resulted in one severe injury, two intermediate injuries, and three minor injuries, and no runaway accidents were recorded during the afternoon.
Al -Fujairah witnessed, during the current year, the liberation of a number of violations related to pedestrian safety, as six violations were registered against pedestrians who are not committed to traffic lights, in addition to 51 violations for not giving pedestrian priority in places designated for their crossing.
According to statistics, the number of deaths caused by traffic accidents last year reached 12 deaths, while the number of severe injuries reached 28, and moderate injuries recorded 57 cases, while the number of minor injuries reached 126, bringing the total injuries to 211 injuries.
The General Command of the Fujairah Police stressed the importance of enhancing mutual cooperation between the drivers of vehicles and pedestrians, because of its role in reducing the run -over accidents caused by excessive speed and recklessness, in addition to preoccupation with the road, whether from the drivers of vehicles or from the road users from the pedestrians, in which innocent people go to from the road.
She called on drivers to be cautious, attention and adherence to the prescribed speeds, and stressed the need for the drivers of vehicles to adhere to the systems and laws of traffic and traffic, in order to avoid traffic accidents that result in loss of lives and property, and confirmed the intensification of traffic control patrols to educate and control violators, and work to spread a culture of respecting pedestrian rights in society, through awareness through text messages and social media and giving lectures Awareness.
