Australia orders thousands of residents to evacuate their homes with the approaching hurricane Alfred

The Australian authorities have ordered thousands of residents in the east of the country to evacuate their homes before the tropical hurricane “Alfred” sweeping the land tomorrow, Saturday, after it brought heavy rains, high waves and strong winds, which led to the power cut, stopping transportation and closing schools.
Australia’s Meteorological Authority’s office said that the slow progress of the hurricane towards the coast has fueled the concerns that it may bring heavy rains for a long time, and it is expected that the land in the north of Berispin, the third largest city in terms of population in Australia, as a hurricane of the second category.
For his part, David Cressvoli, Prime Minister of Queensland, said at a press conference today, that the evacuation centers are the last resort, pointing out that dozens of them were opened.
The wind, which exceeded 100 km per hour, hit the coastal areas of the states of Queensland and New South Wales during the night.
The Meteorological Authority said that the hurricane moved slowly west 120 km from Berisen and 85 km from the tourist city of Gold Coast.
Electricity companies stated that this led to the power out of more than 80,000 homes in the two states, almost half of them in Gold Coast.
Berisen Airport stopped its operations on Thursday, and the city stopped transportation.
More than a thousand schools were closed in southeast Queensland and 280 schools in northern New South Wales.
