Dubai Future Foundation announces the financing of 24 research projects from 13 universities and an academic institution in Dubai
Dubai Future Foundation announced the selection of 24 research projects from 13 universities and an academic institution that participated in the “Initiative to Support and Development and Innovation Initiative in Dubai”, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, to provide the required financing for quality and innovative projects that contribute to enhancing Dubai’s position in the top of the world’s best cities ready for the future.
These projects, which will receive financing support from among the 374 innovative projects provided by 41 universities and research institution that participated in the initiative launched less than 6 months ago. 219 researchers from various levels have benefited from the initiative at this stage, and research is scheduled to start no later than March 31.
The “Initiative to support and finance research, development and innovation is considered one of the outputs of the” Dubai Research, Development and Innovation Program “launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in September 2022, and supervised by the Dubai Future Foundation.
Motivating research and development opportunities
Khalifa Al -Quma, Director of “Dubai Future Laboratory”, stressed that the “Supporting and Financing of Research, Development and Innovation” initiative aims to consolidate Dubai’s position among the best cities in the world, ready for the future and the most employed for advanced scientific and applied research in the future opportunities industry.
He added: “The large turnout recorded by the initiative on Dubai’s leadership confirms in the field of supporting researchers and academic and research institutions and its keenness to stimulate research, development and innovation opportunities and provide all the support required for its prosperity and expanding its uses locally and globally from Dubai“.
Axes and partnerships
The “Research, Development and Innovation Innovation and Innovation Initiative” initiative focuses on two main axes, the cities of the future, health and life sciences, by relying on artificial intelligence and robots applications. The Dubai Future Foundation will work to achieve the targets of this initiative and to develop and implement projects participating in the initiative with a group of partners from the governmental, private, research and academic sectors in the UAE and abroad.
Wide academic participation
The list of universities and academic institutions whose projects qualified for the next stage of the initiative scholarship include Dubai University, the Canadian University in Dubai, Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, the University of Longong in Dubai, the American University in Dubai, the American University in the Emirates, the Middlesx Dubai University, the University of Zayed, the Birla Institute of Technology and Science – Bilani in Dubai, the University of Heriot Wat Dubai, and Higher Technology Colleges Dubai, the Rothschester Institute of Technology in Dubai, and the University of Birmingham in Dubai. These universities cooperated with 43 local and international institutions from 16 countries around the world, in developing research ideas and projects within this stage.
Global solutions in the field of health technology
Regarding participation in this initiative, Dr. Yassin Hajiyyat, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, said: “Through our participation in the Initiative to support and finance research, development and innovation in Dubai to contribute to developing global solutions in the field of health technology and creating a transformation in the field of health care by focusing on how to evaluate and manage pain by patients and doctors and provide millions of patients who suffer from pain with accurate, objective and dedicated solutions Benefit from data in actual time, wearable devices, and biological digital indicators.
Promote the scientific research system
For his part, Dr. Fayrouz Kamalouf, the professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Canadian University in Dubai, said: “The goals of this initiative are in line with Dubai’s leadership in developing research in the fields of health and artificial intelligence at the global level, and we aim through our participation to contribute to strengthening the scientific research system in Dubai and highlighting the exceptional talents that drive innovation wheel.
An innovative medical approach
“Our project focuses on providing an innovative medical approach to early detection of Alzheimer’s disease by integrating medical sensors with advanced deep learning models, enhancing diagnosis of metaphysus and artificial intelligence applications, which contributes to developing early detection practices and enhancing Dubai’s position in the health sector“.
Smart transportation
On her participation in the initiative, Dr. Mai Al -Barachi, Dean of the College of Computer Science at the University of Wongong in Dubai, said: “The idea of our project is based on benefiting from advanced artificial intelligence tools in developing the electric vehicle system and supporting Dubai vision for sustainable mobility in a way that contributes to improving user experience and enhancing energy efficiency and employing the latest smart transportation practices.
Artificial intelligence opportunities
In turn, Dr. Sergith Palacaramian, Associate Professor and Head of the Research Office at Middlesx Dubai, said: “Participation in this initiative allows us to contribute to achieving Dubai’s future vision by taking advantage of the opportunities for artificial intelligence and digital twin technology, to develop innovative and effective solutions in terms of cost to enhance efficiency, sustainability and technological progress in manufacturing“.
It is noteworthy that the “Dubai Research and Development Program” supervised by the “Dubai Future Foundation” aims to find solutions based on knowledge, experience and testing the most important challenges at the local or global levels, and to increase the productivity of sectors, services and existing fields by providing new paths that enhance their economic value.
The program also contributes to supporting national efforts aimed at identifying the most important radical transformations, ways to keep pace with and address them, and prepare the infrastructure to enter new sectors that enhance economic flexibility and prepare for the future..
