المملكة: The head of “Food and Drug” discusses strengthening cooperation with officials in Japan

Today, the CEO of the General Food and Drug Authority, Hisham bin Saad Al -Jadati, met the CEO of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Agency in Japan (PMDA) Yashiro Fujiara, and the consultant for pharmacy affairs at the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Affairs (MHLW) Daisaku Sato, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Tokyo, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in the field of medical products and technology, as well as discussing the opportunities for integration in relevant international organizations and forums, in a way that contributes to the exchange of experiences and enhancing joint coordination in developing regulatory systems, and keeping pace with global developments in the drug and medical devices sector.

Safety of medical products

The activities and achievements achieved within the framework of the Cooperation Memorandum signed in 2020 between the Authority and the Japanese Ministry of Health and Social Affairs in the field of medical products, and discussing a number of axes of common concern, especially the legislation and control of vital products, the availability of products, artificial intelligence uses, data analysis, and international cooperation within international organizations concerned with their fields of work.

These meetings come within the efforts of the Food and Drug General Authority to enhance international cooperation and exchange experiences with the world leading regulatory authorities, within the framework of its strategy to enhance the quality and safety of medical products, and to support the localization of modern technologies in the Kingdom, in line with the targets of the health sector transformation program, one of the Kingdom’s vision programs 2030 in developing this sector and pharmaceutical and medical industries.
