Israel used gender -based violence to undermine the rights of the Palestinians

The Independent International Investigation Committee of the United Nations on the occupied Palestinian land issued a report today, Thursday, in Geneva, confirming that Israel used sexual violence and gender -based violence as part of widespread efforts to undermine the rights of Palestinians to self -determination, in addition to committing genocide by destroying sexual and reproductive health care facilities.

The report has documented a wide range of violations against Palestinian women, men and children throughout the occupied Palestinian territory since October 7, 2023, which is a major element in the abuse of Palestinians and part of the illegal occupation policy and the persecution of the Palestinians.

Navi Pillay, the chairman of the committee, said that the evidence she collected reveals the volume of violations against Palestinian women, men and children, and that these actions are part of a war strategy aimed at controlling and destroying the Palestinian people.

The report also documented forms of sexual violence and gender -based violence, such as forced strips in public places, sexual harassment, and the threat of rape, which are violations committed by the Israeli security forces, and also indicated that the perpetrators escaped accountability due to the ineffectiveness of the Israeli military judicial system.

Pelay pointed out that targeting reproductive health care facilities, through attacks on birth departments and fertilization clinics in Gaza, led to serious physical and psychological effects on women and girls, in addition to long -term effects on mental health and fertility.

The committee also documented an increase in female deaths in Gaza as a result of targeting residential buildings using heavy explosives in crowded areas, stressing that they are acts that constitute a crime against humanity.
