The surface levels of the sea rose more than expected in 2024

The US space agency “NASA” announced today that the levels of the surface of the sea worldwide in 2024 increased more than expected due to the thermal expansion of sea water, ice sheet melting and ice rivers.
According to NASA analysis, the annual height rate reached 5.9 millimeters, compared to expectations indicating 4.3 millimeters.
In total, over 30 years, the average sea level has doubled, as sea level has increased globally by 10 centimeters since the start of the registration of ocean high satellite data in 1993.
“The height we witnessed in 2024 was higher than expected,” said Josh Willis, a researcher at NASA’s jeta laboratory.
He added: “Every year it differs slightly, but what is clear is that the ocean continues to rise, and the rate of height increases quickly.”
In 2024, sea level rise occurred mainly due to thermal expansion, or what is known as the ocean heating, which turned the previous trend in which the ice rivers and ice sheets were the largest contributor to height.
“With the fact that the year 2024 is the most hot, the oceans that expand due to heat follow this trend, to reach its highest levels in three decades,” said NASA, NASA, who is the most heat of the year 2024.
