The calligrapher Ibrahim Ali Al -Arafi is one of the most prominent teachers of Arabic calligraphy in the Kingdom, as he started his artistic journey at the age of 19, who was educated by the professors of the calligraphy in the Great Mosque of Mecca, among them the calligrapher Mukhtar Alam (calligrapher of the Kaaba), and his teacher, Muhammad Abu Al -Khair, may God have mercy on him.
Teaching journey and achievements
For 17 years, Al -Arafi devoted his efforts to teaching Arabic calligraphy within the corridors of the Great Mosque of Mecca, where he taught the sons of Mecca and its guests and fans of calligraphy from all over the world.
One of his most prominent achievements was a writing in the Kaaba supervising the order of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, which he described as “the greatest thing he presented in his artistic career.”
Today, Al -Arafi continues his career in spreading this ancient art through the Prince Mohammed bin Salman International Center for Arabic Calligraphy, as it contributes to preserving the Arab identity and transferring the legacy of Arabic calligraphy to future generations.
Types of Arabic calligraphy
The Arabic calligraphy is one of the finest arts that embody the aesthetics of the Arabic language, where its types are multiple, among them the third line that adorns the curtain of the Kaaba, the copy line used in writing the Noble Qur’an, in addition to the Diwani line, the Diwani, the area, the coffee of all kinds, the tunnel, the comment, and the Sinboli, all of which represent the richness of this ancient art.
Al -Arafi asserts that the mastery of Arabic calligraphy is not just a skill, but rather a great message and identity that must be preserved, calling on every creator to learn and master, as it is the basis for creativity in various arts.
