3.1% Italy’s budget deficit

Rome, April 4, 2025: During the year 2025, Italy recorded a deficit in its general budget amounting to 3.1% of GDP, exceeding the ceiling set by the European Union at 3%.

The Italian Statistical Office explained in a statement that the deficit rate recorded in 2025 represents a slight improvement compared to the 2024 deficit of 3.4%, but it is still higher than the level targeted by the European Union to ensure the stability of financial conditions in member states and maintain the discipline of financial policies.
