Cooperation between “Higher Education” and the American Educational Nursing Program Accreditation Authority

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by the Academic Accreditation Commission, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Educational Nursing Programs Authority in the United States of America (ACEN), with the aim of enhancing joint cooperation towards enriching the quality of educational nursing programs, and raising the level of academic standards in higher education institutions in the United Arab Emirates, in line with strategic directions to enhance the efficiency of the national health sector.
Commenting on this, Dr. Amjad Mohamed Kandil, Acting Director of Academic Accreditation Commission, said: “This cooperation represents an affirmation of the Ministry’s commitment to continuing to develop all aspects of the vocational education system to graduate high -quality nursing competencies and is able to meet health needs in the country and the world, as this agreement will contribute to ensuring the compatibility of academic nursing programs in the country with the requirements of international accreditation, in order to establish the state’s position as a center A pioneer in the field of medical education at the region level.
Dr. Amjad Qandil added that this agreement will contribute to enhancing the mechanisms of academic evaluation and research cooperation between educational institutions in the Emirates and its international counterparts, which enhances the state’s position as a leading educational destination in health specialties.
She continued: “This agreement reflects the UAE’s keenness to achieve a qualitative shift in the higher education sector, in terms of providing various opportunities for students, teachers and academic institutions to benefit from the latest developments in curricula and teaching methods, in addition to enhancing cooperation with the leading international educational institutions in various fields and disciplines.”
Promoting cooperation
The Memorandum of Understanding aims to enhance cooperation in the areas of developing quality guarantee policies and procedures for nursing programs in the UAE, in a way that enhances their credibility and international approval, and organizing joint academic reviews between the two sides in order to achieve the highest levels of quality in the nursing education, in conjunction with the enabled UAE higher education institutions to obtain international credits for nursing programs, in order to enhance the opportunities of their graduates to join the work market Locally and globally.
The Memorandum of Understanding also focuses on exchanging knowledge and experiences on the latest innovations in the field of education in nursing, and ensuring the integration of curricula with modern developments in medical practices.
For her part, Dr. Kathi Shapil, CEO of the Accreditation Committee for Nursing in the United States of America, said: “We are pleased to cooperate with the Academic Accreditation Commission in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to review nursing education programs in the United Arab Emirates, and work to enrich them and develop them. The fruitful opportunities for both parties. We are also pleased to put the resources of the ACEN ECN (ACEN) for students, teaching cadres and educational institutions in the UAE, and we look forward to continuing this cooperation to upgrade together the nursing profession around the world towards new horizons of quality and excellence.
The agreement is a major step towards achieving the UAE’s vision in developing an integrated and advanced educational system that supports the rapid growth achieved by the health care sector at the national level, by preparing qualified nursing cadres capable of keeping pace with various future health challenges.
