Abu Dhabi is preparing to host the celebrations of the International Day of Jazz Music 2025

Abu Dhabi, March 26 / WAM / Abu Dhabi is preparing to receive a prominent global event, which is the international day of jazz 2025, which falls on April 30 of each year and will be celebrated in more than 190 countries around the world.
Abu Dhabi was chosen to be the hosting city of this distinguished celebration organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Hirby Hancock Institute for Jazz Music in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.
The celebration includes various concerts and educational and cultural initiatives aimed at enhancing the influence of jazz as a tool for free artistic expression.
“We are happy to celebrate the International Jazz Day in Abu Dhabi, the city that won the title (Music City) within the classification of (the network of creative cities) of UNESCO, and this version of the celebration will focus on the creativity and the rich heritage of Abu Dhabi while highlighting the ability of jazz to link societies and enhance dialogue and peace across continents,” said Audrey Azoulay, Director General of UNESCO.
She added: “Abu Dhabi, as a” city of music “, is preparing to be a vibrant center for this international celebration, as it will host its hosting to highlight the city’s commitment to cultural exchange, education and diversity, and it will also play a pivotal role in preserving and spreading jazz in the region.
The department will organize a series of jazz and educational programs for five weeks, including the international concert “All-Star” for the International Day of Jazz 2025, which will be broadcast internationally by Etihad Arena.
His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi said: “Abu Dhabi hosts the International Day of Jazz Music for the first time in its history.
He added: “The ceremony scheduled will be combined under the leadership of the famous pianist Hirby Hancock, an Oscar -winning actor Jeremy Aerons, and a group of jazz artists, blues, classic music and hip hop from all over the world and there will be artists from the Emirates, the United States of America, China, Morocco, India and many other countries.
More names will also be announced in the coming weeks.
Hirby Hancock said: “Jazz has always been a way to collect people, break the barriers, and inspire creativity through cultures, the international day of jazz, reminds us of the ability of music to overcome borders, enhance dialogue, and spread joy and hope,” said Hirby Hancock.
The ceremony will be broadcast directly to millions of people around the world through various media platforms such as the United Nations, UNESCO, Facebook, YouTube, Jazzday.com and other international media partners.
According to the momentum of the International Jazz Day, the “Jazz Month in Abu Dhabi” will expand the scope of international celebrations and enhance the presence of jazz in the region, and its activities will include live musical performances, workshops, artistic residence programs and educational events in the most prominent cultural and educational institutions in the city.
The program will include cooperation with the classic Abu Dhabi music and Benali Abu Dhabi Public Art, Abu Dhabi Festival, Berkeley Abu Dhabi and other local and international institutions.
Special performances will also be highlighted by combining jazz with traditional Arab machines such as oud, law and flute, which reflects the continuous cultural dialogue between jazz and expressing local culture.
The International Jazz Day coincides with the cultural summit in Abu Dhabi, which will bring together leaders and makers of change from the various cultural and creative industries. This event will witness discussion sessions and dialogues with Herby Hancock and other famous artists in the world of music.
