Sharjah Municipality Laboratory intensifies its efforts to enhance public health in the emirate

Sharjah, March 26 / WAM / The Central Laboratory Department of the Municipality of Sharjah is seeking to develop its laboratory and analytical procedures using the latest devices, equipment and smart programs; To keep pace with the comprehensive renaissance witnessed by the Emirate of Sharjah at all levels, it also seeks to enhance the public health of the emirate’s community in its various categories and to create new methods that contribute to avoiding the quality of the lives of its children.
Sheikha, Dr. Naglaa Ali Al -Mualla, Director of the Central Laboratory Department in the Municipality of Sharjah, stressed that the administration is working to achieve major strategic goals, most notably the creation of an electronic platform to receive the requests of auditors and activate mobile laboratories, whether they specialize in food, environment or veterinary and activating artificial intelligence in procedures and analytical tests, and introducing modern and accurate devices that depend on intelligence Artificial, in addition to participating in local and international conferences, to transfer the experiences and experiences of the successful municipality in promoting public health by spreading scientific and research papers.
She said in an interview with the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, that the total number of samples analyzed in the Food Laboratory, the Environment and Consumer Materials Laboratory and the Veterinary Laboratory during the past year 2024 amounted to 15 thousand samples, in addition to analyzing 85 thousand tests in the building materials laboratory, stressing the administration’s keenness on local and international contributions and membership in risk assessment; It depends on them to conduct studies to develop future and secondary plans, in addition to withdrawing samples in cooperation with the supervisory authorities.
She pointed out that the municipality of Sharjah City represented by the Central Laboratory Department is working to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, that all the cities of the emirate be healthy, pointing to the administration’s focus on the standard of air quality, water and sanitation by strengthening the role of strategic partners in the emirate.
She stated that the administration participated during the past year in many international conferences and workshops to transfer the experience of the Emirate of Sharjah in strengthening the public health system, and in the International Quality Award in Britain; Where it was nominated among the 4 best international institutions in the application of quality in addition to posts in Australia by presenting a scientific paper on ways to investigate common and transferred diseases between humans and animals, and another on the best practices applied in managing central laboratories in terms of food or environment.
At the local level, the administration participated in the GITEX exhibition; Where the smart examination system project won the award for the best participating project in the level of the Emirate of Sharjah, after which it is activated and updated based on the needs of the building materials laboratory and providing it with the feature of artificial intelligence in analyzing and extracting results, and in the honey festival that was held in the city of Al Dhaid, where the food laboratory contributed 70% to the festival results by conducting honey samples tests to ensure the extent of their conformity to the Emirati specifications.
Sheikha, Dr. Najla Ali Al -Mualla, indicated that the role of the central laboratories crystallizes in conducting analytical tests, so that the Municipality’s Health Supervision and Safety Department takes the decision to allow the circulation of any product, destroy, re -export, or allow it to enter the markets.
She said that the central laboratories have local and federal partnerships with the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment, the Ministry of Infrastructure, and another global; All of them help to take decision -making as soon as local or international notifications are received by withdrawing a product from the emirate’s market.
She pointed out that the administration provides a training program for university students at all stages, including masters and doctorate students, and supports graduation and research projects in various sources, whether they are specialized in food, environment, veterinary or building materials, as it seeks to develop work cadres and raise the level of their expertise by providing continuous vocational education program and continuous academic education, noting that municipal laboratories obtain international accreditation from the British Accreditation Authority “Yakas” for the 25th year in a row.
