"Sharjah Conference for School Library Secretariat" April 15 kicks off

Sharjah, March 26 / WAM / The Sharjah Book Authority will organize on April 15 and 16th at the Sharjah Expo Center, the activities of the opening session of the Sharjah Conference on School Libraries Secretariat “in cooperation with the” American Libraries Association “, with the aim of providing a specialized platform for school libraries secretaries and their directors and workers in the field of managing and developing school libraries and enabling them to acquire basic knowledge and develop their skills.

The conference includes an integrated program that includes main workshops and letters offered by leaders and experts in the school libraries sector to enable the participants to identify the latest trends and best practices in the field of school libraries management, in addition to providing a unique opportunity to enhance communication between the trustees of these libraries and their supervisors and school teachers as well as providing a platform for library owners and book stores to review their products and innovative services.

His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakad Al -Amiri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, said, “The Sharjah Conference on School Libraries Secretariat” is the first of its kind in the region, and a translation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, comes in providing renewed opportunities for learning, communication, growth and investment in the role that school librarians play in achieving equality and equal educational opportunities, as it contributes to enhancing their capabilities And their acquaintances, and the provision of frameworks and strategies that guarantee the arrival of every male and female student to sustainable reading and educational resources.

Mansour Al -Hassani, Director of Publishing Services Department at the Authority, said that the conference constitutes an important step in the efforts of the authority continuing to develop the library system in the Emirate of Sharjah and the region, and through partnership with the American Library Association, global experiences are attracted with leading experiences in this field and enhancing Sharjah’s position as a regional and international knowledge center.

The conference witnesses the organization of comprehensive workshops over two days organized by the authority in cooperation with the “American Libraries Association”, the American Association for School Libraries Secretariat “and the” Emirates Association for Libraries and Information “, as it emphasizes the message and common goals of these bodies, which seeks to consolidate the habit of reading in a sustainable manner among young people and youth from school students, as the workshops gather trustees and experts in school libraries from the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and several other countries around the world.

The workshops provide the participants with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and develop new skills that enable them to enhance their role in schools and learn about innovative ideas about consolidating reading programming and interaction of students and best practices necessary to create integrated educational environments in which students turn into readers and participants have the opportunity to exchange best practices and personal success stories among them and contribute to enhancing partnerships and consolidating cooperation to provide an environment that promotes learning and joint growth.
