The International Organization for Migration calls for not to forget the Yemeni people after more than a decade of war and destruction

This is what was stated in a statement issued today, Wednesday, where Ms. Bob confirmed that global solidarity with Yemen is now more necessary than ever to prevent “Millions of knees”, While global attention turns to other places.

Nearly 20 million people in Yemen depend on aid to survive, as many have suffered from frequent displacement, the spread of hunger and the collapse of basic services.

The number of displaced people in Yemen is about 4.8 million people across the country, many of whom live in temporary shelters that provide little protection from weather, and limited opportunities to obtain basic services.

Women and children are among the most affected groups, as they are at increased risk of violence, malnutrition and malicious health.

The International Organization for Migration said: “While families around the world are preparing to celebrate Eid al -Fitr, the feast will be on the Yemenis in the shadow of the war, as it has become loss, hunger and hardship, the base.”

The organization said that despite the ongoing efforts to provide assistance, the sharp financing gaps make it difficult to reach those who desperately need them.

In addition, the organization indicated that tens of thousands of immigrants are still stuck in Yemen – after they arrived in the country in the hope of moving towards the Gulf states in search of better opportunities, “Instead, they face exploitation, detention, violence, and risky trips through active conflict areas.”

In 2024 alone, nearly 60,900 immigrants arrived in Yemen, according to the organization. She said that the only director of many immigrants is the voluntary human return program, but she warned that without increasing funding, even these decisive efforts may diminish, leaving thousands of immigrants stuck in conditions that get worse.

Mrs. Bob said: “The Yemeni people cannot forget. While families barely break the fast with enough food, and parents face another holiday and they are unable to support their children, and while immigrants remain stuck without a way to return to their homes, the world cannot ignore them. Every day without taking any action means more suffering, more losses in lives, and less hope in the future.”
