The Emirates Legal Fatwa Council called on specialists, experts and members of society, including citizens and residents, to investigate the crescent of the month of Shawwal for the year 1446 AH, after the sunset on Saturday, 29 Ramadan, corresponding to March 29, 2025 AD.

Ibrahim Al -Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Association, Member of the Arab Astronomy Association, said that it is expected that the crescent of the month of Shawwal will be born on Saturday 29 March at 14:58 Emirates time, and it sets about 5 minutes after sunset in the UAE, and about 10 minutes in Makkah Al -Mukarramah, and the age of the crescent (the period from conjugation to monitoring time with the sunset) will be 3:35 in the UAE and about 4:25 in Makkah Al -Mukarramah, and the height of the sun The western horizon in Makkah Al -Mukarramah is about 2 degrees, while it is a touch of the western horizon with the sunset in the Emirates.

He stated that, according to astronomical monitoring research and its documented data for a period of more than 100 years, and includes more than 5,000 scientific monitoring operations that are scientifically documented to monitoring the new crescent, set requirements that were not proven that the crescent was monitored scientifically documented without these minimum limits for these requirements, which were taken from the visual monitoring data of the crescent, whether with the naked eye, endoscope or telescope, and in an ideal atmosphere for astronomical monitoring, and astronomical monitoring, He pointed out that these controls guarantee the growth of the arch of the light and the formation of the crescent in the newborn crescent in a monitoring amount.

He explained that the most important of these requirements: the birth of the new moon before sunset, after the moon from the sun is not less than 6 degrees, the lifetime of the moon is not less than 12 hours, and that it stays above the horizon after sunset for a period of no less than 20 minutes.

Al -Jarwan pointed out that, except for the birth of the new moon, the rest of the conditions are not achieved on the evening of the 29th of Ramadan. Accordingly, we expect that the crescent monitoring cannot be proven after the sunset on Saturday, and it will be completed on the 30th of Ramadan on Sunday, and Eid Monday 31 March.
