9.3 million people face serious effects in southern Sudan

The United Nations has expressed concern about the deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation in southern Sudan, urging all the parties concerned with the commitment of restraint and preserving the peace agreement.
UN spokesman Stefan Dujarric said at a press conference on Thursday that there are 9.3 million people in South Sudan suffering from serious human impacts as a result of the ongoing conflicts, climate change effects and economic crisis.
Dujarric called on all parties to take serious steps towards ending the conflict and directing the country towards a safe and peaceful future.
