The Ministry of Education recently is to measure the quality of digital books in schools as part of its efforts to promote digital education and develop teaching methods, as it launched a questionnaire targeting students, parents and various educational cadres, to draw the voice of the educational field the future of digital books in schools.

The questionnaire seen by “Emirates Today” focuses on; To measure the quality of the use of digital books in schools, learn about the benefits they provide, and to define the most important challenges facing students, teachers and parents in a serious step to evaluate the digital educational experience,

The questionnaire raised questions about analyzing the effectiveness of digital books compared to paper books, studying the extent of the educational community’s compatibility with it, as well as collecting proposals that would improve the experience of their use in the future.

Basic data

The questionnaire was based on different axes, as it included the basic data of the participants such as their role in the educational process, the academic level, and the emirate to which they belong, to ensure a more accurate analysis of the results.

Educational experience

The questions touched on the satisfaction of students and teachers about digital books, and the extent of their compatibility with the idea that it provides a better educational experience than paper books, with the ability to choose the features that they find more useful, such as ease of pregnancy compared to paper books, the ability to quickly search for information, interact with content through videos and links, contribute to reducing paper consumption and preserving the environment, the ability to access them at any time and from anywhere via smart devices

The most prominent challenges

On the other hand, the questionnaire allows the participants to define the most important challenges they face when using digital books, among them poor internet connection, the difficulty of reading from the screen, the lack of all books in electronic format, in addition to the lack of interaction compared to paper books.

Phone applications

The questionnaire deals with the preferences of the educational community regarding textbooks, as it allows the participants to choose between: digital books only and paper books only, and a mixture of the two

It also includes a poll on the means that students and teachers prefer to access electronic books, whether through mobile applications, websites, or official educational platforms, in addition to identifying the subjects that prefer to be available in electronic format.

Suggestions for proposals

At the end of the questionnaire, the Ministry provided space for the participants to submit their suggestions on how to improve the experience of using digital books in schools, with the aim of developing electronic content and making the experience more interactive and easy to use.

Drafting strategies

The Ministry emphasized that the participation of students, teachers and parents in this questionnaire is necessary, as it will help its results in improving the quality of digital books, and formulating new strategies to support e -learning, in line with the state’s directions in promoting innovation in the educational sector.

It called on all members of the educational community to interact with this questionnaire seriously, and to contribute to submitting their opinions and proposals, as they are an essential part of the process of developing education in the state.
