Openai has announced that it had raised 40 billion dollars during a new financing tour, in a move that is the largest of its kind in the history of startups, which raised the value of the developed company to the Chatgpt application to $ 300 billion.
The company, which is based in San Francisco, stated in a statement published on its website, that the funding was made in partnership with the Japanese “Softbank” group, noting that this step will enable it to “push the prospects for artificial intelligence research to new borders.”
“Oben AI” explained that funding will be used to develop artificial intelligence systems that stimulate the scientific discovery, enable allocated education and enhance human creativity, as well as support its efforts towards building a general artificial intelligence (AGI) that serves all humanity.
On the other hand, Softbank Group said in a separate statement, that its partnership with “Oben AI” comes within its vision to achieve super artificial intelligence (ASI) that goes beyond human capabilities, saying that “Oben AI” is the closest partner to achieve this goal.
“Soft Bank” emphasized that the artificial intelligence models developed by “Oben AI” represent the key to reaching public and highly artificial intelligence, which requires enormous computing capabilities, noting that its investment includes pumping 10 billion dollars initially, with an additional investment plan by an additional $ 30 billion by the end of this year, according to specific conditions.
According to the company, these investments will be used to expand infrastructure and enhance artificial intelligence tools, to meet the needs of about 500 million active users per week for the ChatGPT application.
It is noteworthy that the “Oben AI” board of directors had unanimously rejected a offer made by businessman Elon Musk to buy the company for 97.4 billion dollars.
