Tourism experts: 100 % hotel occupancy before the start of “Formula 1”

Officials and experts workers in the tourism and hotel sector said that the demand for the attendance of the “Formula 1” race in Bahrain is increasing year after year, as the hotel occupancy rate reaches 100% before the launch of “Formula 1”, which confirms the great role that the race plays in stimulating the hospitality and tourism sector in the Kingdom.

They stressed, in statements to “Al -Watan”, that hosting the “Formula 1” race in Bahrain reflects positively on the local economy, where hotels, restaurants and entertainment destinations benefit from this active movement, and the activities accompanying the race contribute to attracting motorsport lovers from different countries of the world, which enhances Bahrain’s position as a main destination for sports tourism in the region.

In the same context, the CEO of “Vizet Bahrain” company stressed to God’s command that the Formula 1 race for this year is witnessing unprecedented attention, with new markets opening and increasing demand from several countries.

He said: «This year, as a company, we were able to expand the scope of demand for (Formula 1) by attracting new markets, including the Polish market, the Czech, the Russian, and the Czech Republic market, which reflects the growing popularity of the event globally.

He added that “Formula 1” is not just a race, but rather an integrated tourist event that enhances the economic movement, as hotel occupancy rates rise to 100% during the effectiveness period, with prior reservations covering most of the hotels.

He continued that «the accompanying events and parties that will be held during the (Formula 1) race will contribute to enhancing the experience of visitors, which makes Bahrain a main destination for motorsport and recreational tourism lovers alike.

Bahrain is scheduled to host the Formula 1 race from April 11 to April 14, as the event annually attracts thousands of visitors from different countries of the world, to be one of the most prominent sporting and tourism events in the Kingdom. The general manager of the Crown Plaza Charbel Hanna Hotel confirmed that the “Formula 1” race in Bahrain records a year after a year, a noticeable increase in tourist turnout, which is directly reflected in the percentage of hotel occupancy.

He said: «Every year we are surprised by the high demand for reservations during the (Formula 1) period, and since now, the occupancy rate has reached 100%, as there is no vacant room, and all the packages are fully seized.

Hanna pointed out that from 2022 to the current season, Bahrain has witnessed increasing growth in the demand for “Formula 1”, which contributes to promoting sports tourism and reviving the hotel sector.

Bahrain is preparing to host the “Formula 1” race in the coming days, amid an unprecedented turnout that reflects the Kingdom’s position as a global sports and tourist destination.
