Ministry of Health: A pre -emptive strategy to prevent HPV

Dubai, April 4 / WAM / The Ministry of Health and Community Protection revealed that the pre -emptive strategy to combat HPV (HPV) aims to reduce the incidence of cervical cancer and other diseases associated with the virus, as part of its efforts to enhance public health and prevent valid diseases.
The ministry explained that one of the most prominent strategy initiatives is to include the vaccine in the national immunization program in 2018 for females, which made the Emirates the first in the eastern Mediterranean region, which provides this vaccination for school students from 13 to 14 years old.
In 2023, the ministry announced in a leading step to expand the program of immunization against the HPV to include males in the 13-14-year-old age, with the aim of enhancing societal protection and preventing diseases associated with the virus in the sexes.
The Ministry of Health and Community Protection revealed that the national plan against HPV is aimed at vaccinating 90% of girls with the virus vaccine before they reach the age of 15 by 2030, as well as providing early detection of cervical cancer when they reach 25 years, as well as providing advanced treatment for affected cases according to the finest international standards, and within the framework of commitment to the global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer.
The Ministry of Health and Community Protection is keen to raise awareness of the HPV, confirming the UAE’s commitment to achieving international standards in prevention, early detection and treatment, which was honored by the World Health Organization last year, in appreciation of the efficiency of the national program for immunization and the inclusion of the HPV vaccine within its advanced system.
The Ministry indicated that its strategy is based on an integrated approach to public health based on prevention and awareness, and seeks to implement the latest technologies in the field of immunization, as these efforts are compatible with the directions of the “General Society”, which confirms that promoting health awareness is a common responsibility that requires the concerted efforts of individuals and institutions.
The Ministry indicated that the consolidation of the culture of early examination and immunization is a basic pillar in promoting community health, in line with the national vision towards achieving the highest standards of quality of life and building a prosperous and prosperous society.
Official statistics revealed that cervical cancer is ranked fifth among the types of cancers spread among women in the Emirates according to the National Cancer Registry, recording rates lower than the global average thanks to effective preventive policies.
The Ministry of Health and Community Protection stressed the necessity of committing to conducting a cervical examination periodically for the age group from 25 to 65 years every 3-5 years, ensuring early detection and raising recovery rates.
