The National Meteorological Center announced the start of receiving requests for permits and licenses for meteorological services, from tomorrow, Tuesday, in a number of specializations specified within the executive regulations of the meteorological system.
The available specializations include: practicing a profession of maintenance technician, practicing a predictive profession, and practicing a monitoring profession, in addition to the meteorological data deployment service, and requested a permit for a standing meteorological station.

Meteorological services licenses in Saudi Arabia

The center will announce the reception of applications for permits and other licenses, successively.
The Center called on the beneficiaries and interested people to the importance of adhering to the approved permits according to the meteorological system and its executive regulations.
He pointed out that he will continue to implement introductory and awareness programs to enhance compliance and raise awareness of the importance of organizing work in the meteorological sector.

The center will also hold meetings and workshops for beneficiaries to introduce them to the mechanism for applying for available permits and services.
This comes within the efforts of the center aimed at organizing the meteorological sector and raising the efficiency of professional practices associated with it, and ensuring the quality of the services provided, in order to achieve the Kingdom’s 2030 vision targets.
The Public Prosecution confirmed that meteorological services of a sovereign nature related to national security are exclusively limited to the National Meteorological Center.

She stressed that practicing any activity that affects this aspect is a severe violation that requires severe penalties that amount to 10 years in prison and a fine of two million riyals.
The prosecution stated that these violations are considered one of the major crimes that lead to arrest, stressing at the same time that the regulations obligate everyone who provides services or publishes information in the field of meteorology to obtain licenses and regular permits.

Types of meteorological services

She indicated that the organizational regulations are strictly classified as the types of meteorological services, pointing out that the provision of sovereign services concerned with the outputs and meteorological information related to national security is limited to the National Meteorological Center and not others, in order to enhance the integrity of information and protect national security.
The National Meteorological Center begins applying the meteorological system requirements starting on Tuesday 10 Shawwal 1446 AH corresponding to April 8, 2025 AD.
This is part of the national efforts to organize the sector, raise the efficiency of performance and control the quality of meteorological services in the Kingdom, in a way that keeps pace with national targets and the Kingdom’s international obligations.
