المملكة: Paris .. The Kingdom confirms its support for UNESCO projects and its programs

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirmed its commitment to UNESCO member states to continue supporting the projects and programs of the organization that contribute to implementing its priorities, and is in the interest of member states to achieve their development goals.
This came during the Kingdom’s speech in the work of the 221th session of the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “UNESCO”, which was delivered by the Kingdom’s permanent representative to UNESCO Dr. Abdul Ilah bin Ali Al -Takheis.

The Kingdom’s delegation in UNESCO

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its permanent delegation to UNESCO, whose opening sessions started yesterday, Monday, at the organization’s headquarters in the French capital, Paris, with the participation of the Saudi National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, and a number of national parties with specialization, and the session will continue until April 17.
The Kingdom’s delegation is chaired by the 221th session of the UNESCO Executive Council, the Kingdom’s permanent representative to UNESCO, Dr. Abdul Ilah bin Ali Al -Takheis, who delivered the Kingdom’s speech in the presence of the member states of the Executive Council, and both the President of the Executive Council, the President of the General Conference of UNESCO and the Director General of UNESCO.

Cooperation between the Kingdom and UNESCO

Dr. Takhis to the long -term relationship that brings Saudi Arabia with UNESCO, and it is one of the first countries to join the United Nations Charter in 1945.
The price of joint and continuous cooperation between the Kingdom and the organization represented by the UNESCO Institute for Life Learning, which resulted in the Kingdom’s hosting of the Sixth International Conference on Learning Cities under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – entitled “Learning cities at the forefront of climate work.
He referred to the Kingdom’s main role in protecting cultural heritage through the Saudi Fund to support, protect and promote culture and heritage for UNESCO, and two digital platforms will be launched during the first half of this year in cooperation with UNESCO: the virtual museum of stolen pieces and the digital heritage platform.

Kingdom membership

It is noteworthy that the UNESCO Executive Council, which the Kingdom has a member, is one of the three main agencies of the organization, in addition to the General Conference and the General Secretariat of the organization.
It includes 58 countries elected by the General Conference for a period of 4 years, and the Executive Council under the supervision of the General Conference assesses the performance of UNESCO’s work, evaluating its programs and budget estimates for the organization.
