UAE and Brazil are cooperating to develop farmers’ skills in Angola and Guinea -Bissau

Abu Dhabi, April 10/ WAM/ The United Arab Emirates, in cooperation with the African African Institute – and within a historical initiative – to develop technical skills for African youth, through a training program that will be carried out in the Republic of Angola and the Republic of Guinea Bissau to enhance the skills of young people who are 50 in the cocoa and cashew industries.
This initiative reflects close international cooperation, which brings together four countries from three continents of Asia, Africa and South America, and is also in line with the goals of the sustainable development of the United Nations, which includes the second goal “eliminating hunger”, the fourth goal “good education”, and the eighth goal “decent work and economics growth”, where the programs of the African African Institute aim to bridge the knowledge gap and skills to meet the needs of the African countries concerned.
This initiative is of economic importance as a result of the vital importance of the cashew industry as an essential pillar of the Guinea -Bissau economy, as it constitutes 90% of its exports, and cocoa is the most expensive commodity classified in 2024 in African countries – especially the countries that fall on the western coast of Africa, including Angola due to its increasing capabilities and its ability to influence global markets – which is one of the most important Global production commodities.
The Guinea -Bissau professionals will receive practical training at the Imperraba Agricultural Research Foundation in Fortalisa, “Brazilian state of Sayra”, while participants from Angola will attend the unit of research and innovation for mixed cocoa in Ilius, “Bahia State”.
This is followed by the second stage of the program in major institutions in the UAE, which contribute effectively to the program by preparing curricula, training experts, and providing financial support.
In this regard, His Excellency Reem Bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation Affairs, said that this partnership embodies the UAE’s commitment to enhancing sustainable development and empowering societies by transferring knowledge and skills.
Her Excellency added that through investment in education and capacity building in the vital sectors such as the agricultural sector, we contribute to long -term economic growth, and we strengthen the flexibility of African countries in this context, such strategic partnerships are not limited to strengthening international relations only; Rather, it represents an important role in dealing with global challenges related to food security and economic disparity, which paves the way for all towards a more prosperous future.
For his part, His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, said that the initiative is an integral part of the UAE’s multiple efforts to help African countries to achieve their economic and educational goals and build their human capabilities.
His Excellency explained that the UAE adopted a dynamic approach in Africa that highlights international development and humanitarian aid and investment, as well as its firm commitment to addressing challenges in terms of food security, climate work, economic development programs and improving health care areas, as this initiative confirms the capabilities of international cooperation in stimulating positive change and enhancing a more interconnected and prosperous future in the African continent.
In turn, His Excellency Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, stressed the importance of the Brazilian African Institute in strengthening bilateral relations between Brazil and African countries, through the implementation of a set of human capacity building programs.
His Excellency Vieira said: “I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the African African Institute, which plays a pivotal role in enhancing relations between Brazil and the continent of Africa, by supporting technical skills through several training programs dedicated to building the capabilities of youth in Africa. These initiatives include the technical training program for youth, which applies methodologies and materials designed specifically for professional development, with a focus on transferring knowledge, skills and technologies that Brazil was distinguished as a prominent global power in this field. ”
Professor Joao Bosco Monti, head of the Brazilian African Institute, touched that the “African Youth Skills Development Program” is based on a set of professional development strategies designed specifically to meet the needs of African countries, where participants in the program benefit from Brazilian experience in such industries, and by focusing on technical knowledge as well as practical skills to bring about meaningful change in their societies, and this initiative confirms a commitment to achieve Sustainable development through capacity building, as it provides young professionals with the tools needed to develop local economies. It is also a distinguished example of the possibility of purposeful training by opening new economic opportunities to enhance agricultural value.
For his part, His Excellency Titi Antonio, Angola Foreign Minister, explained that the African African Institute is an increasing importance for the Angolan, as it works to achieve the long -term agricultural goals of Angola, and stressed the role of international partnerships in achieving sustainable development.
He said that this project is in line with the Angolan government’s strategy in achieving food security and achieving development needs through the field of agriculture, and enhances the partnership with Brazil and the UAE Angola’s ability to develop its agricultural sector, by taking advantage of international experiences to cause a sustainable impact, and the program also enhances the role of Angola as a gateway to initiatives that enhance scientific knowledge and sustainable development.
In the same context, His Excellency Mubala Fernandez, Guinea -Bissau ambassador to Brazil, pointed out the importance of this initiative, saying: “Caso is not just an agricultural product in Guinea -Bissau, but it is a pillar of our economy and a symbol of our steadfastness. The strengthening of this sector requires investing in local production and the development of the food processing industry, and the UAE has a strong diplomatic relationship with Guinea Bissau, and its participation in the training program is considered Technical for youth, in cooperation with the African African Institute, is an important step towards promoting the production of cashews in Guinea Bissau and increasing its competitiveness in the international market.
It is noteworthy that the African Youth Training Program was presented for the first time at the African Union summit in 2024 in Addis Ababa, with the aim of enabling the next generation of agricultural professionals by training 1,000 African youth at the end of 2025, to advance the wheel of economic growth and innovation in the countries concerned.
