A study at the Emirates University reveals the origins of water in the universe

Al Ain on April 11/ WAM/ A research team from the United Arab Emirates University published a scientific study in the magazine “Nature Astronomy”, one of the most prominent international leagues in the field of astronomy.

The study revealed new evidence indicating that the water was present in the universe before the formation of the basic blocks of our galaxy, which reshaped the scientific understanding of the origins of water and the possibility of life in the early stages of the universe.

Dr. Mohamed Abdel -Latif, associate professor in the Department of Physics at the Emirates University and the main author of the study, stressed that the research highlights the role of the first supernovae in the formation of water, noting that the dense water nuclei may have embraced primary planetary tablets, which may lead to the emergence of viable planets since the dawn of the universe, which raises new questions about the possibility of life in the early time of what was previously believed.

The study received wide global attention, as it was chosen to cover in “Nature Press”, and reports were published in “Scientific America and New Scientist” and other scientific media, which reflects the importance of the results of the research team.

This study is a qualitative addition to astronomical research that enhances the scientific understanding of the development of basic elements in the universe, and highlights the role of the Emirates University in contributing to leading scientific discoveries at the global level.
