Senegal demands an international investigation into suspicions of CAF corruption

Yesterday, the Senegalese government called for an international investigation into what it described as suspected corruption within the Confederation of African Football (CAF), after its national team was stripped of a title in the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

The CAF Appeals Committee decided, the day before yesterday, that the Senegal national team “withdrew” from the final match that was held last January, by leaving the stadium for a short period to protest during stoppage time, which turned its 1-0 victory in extra time into a 3-0 defeat in favor of Morocco, the host of the land.

In a statement, the Senegalese government condemned the CAF decision, describing it as “flagrantly illegal and grossly unfair.”
