Tunisia, April 17/ WAM/ His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, was granted the Arab Cultural Merit of the Excellent Class, in its first edition, by the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECO).
Abdullah Muhammad Al -Owais, head of the Department of Culture, received a representative of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the Medal of Arab Cultural Merit, during an official honoring ceremony held by the organization at its headquarters in the Tunisian capital, Tunisia.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Ould Omar, Director General of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science “ALECO”, Dr. Iman Al -Salami, the country’s ambassador to the Tunisian Republic, the ambassadors of the Arab countries to the Tunisian Republic, and a group of Arab intellectuals, thinkers and media.
The ceremony began with a speech delivered by the Director General of “ALECO”, in its beginning, the organization’s launch of the first Arab cultural merit Medal of its kind, which is a high -level medal granted to Arab individuals, organizations or institutions in appreciation of their prominent contributions, and their great services to Arab culture, and the medal is a high honor for creativity and distinction in the areas of culture and creativity, and contributes to encouraging valuable works in the field of knowledge.
His Excellency Ould Omar said on the medal, this medal aims to recognize the efforts of the leading personalities and institutions that contributed to providing the Arab culture to the world in its human and civilizational dimension, and estimating its role in enriching the cultural scene and promoting the Arab identity and spreading the values of knowledge, and it is good for the organization to choose an exceptional figure by all the standards and human, cognitive, intellectual and political dimensions to be the first to hold the Medal of Cultural Approach Arab.
He added: “We meet today to celebrate the name of all intellectuals, creators, artists, thinkers, writers and poets with His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. And peace. ”
He referred to a number of initiatives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, the most prominent of which is the achievement of the historical lexicon of the Arabic language, which is the modern era project and the largest linguistic project that the Arab nation has accomplished, and obtained a certificate of the Guinness Encyclopedia for Records as the largest linguistic dictionary in human history, and to provide support to the “ALECSO” organization to enable it to complete the completion of the Encyclopedia of Flags of Arab and Muslim scholars and writers, and the establishment of the Islamic Cultural Center in Volsburg Province In Germany, the “Al -Thaghara Cultural Center” in the Kingdom of Spain, and the opening of a number of schools for memorizing the Holy Quran and teaching the Arabic language in multiple African countries, as well as launching initiatives aimed at enhancing cultural communication between the Arab world, such as the Arab Theater Authority, which annually sponsors the largest gathering of Arab playwriters and artists, the Sharjah Art Foundation, and the Sharjah Academy of Performance Arts and others.
The Director General of “Alcso” said: “There is no doubt that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah is the conscience of the” Arab cultural work “, which is an apparent conscience, not hidden, with its successful initiatives, and inspiring scientific projects that contributed to the formation of cosmic knowledge systems, and extended Arab culture with the torrent of pride, strength, empowerment and spread, and therefore all, in line with the goals of the organization, its internal system, and the general managers of the minister On the cultural affairs in the Arab world, it was decided to grant the “Medal of the Arab Cultural Merit from the excellent category” to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, in appreciation and recognition of the efforts of His Highness in serving Arab and Islamic culture, protecting the civilizational identity of the people of the nation and devoting the values of the knowledge society.
For his part, His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Culture, said in a recorded speech: “We celebrate today the granting of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Arab Cultural Merit Medal of the Excellent Category, in appreciation of his cultural and intellectual march, and for his great efforts in supporting cultural programs and initiatives and promoting civilized and knowledge communication at the regional and international levels.”
He pointed out that this medal represents an Arab confirmation of an exceptional cultural vision that made Sharjah the center for creativity and knowledge, an oasis of thought, writers and theater, as well as the faith of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, with his interest in culture in building and promoting societies, and the constant endeavor towards consolidating culture as a bridge for development, and a means of investing in humans.
He added that the initiatives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah Cultural, Literary and Intellectual are worth all appreciation, and it resulted in the choice of Sharjah as the international capital of the book, the capital of Arab and Islamic culture, and other achievements that contributed to highlighting the Arab culture and the international arena and preserving the Arabic language as a bowl of thought and creativity.
For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Muhammad Al -Owais, head of the Culture Department in Sharjah, during a speech to him the greetings and wishes of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to the attendees, and thanked his highness and appreciation to the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science, for its efforts in serving Arab culture.
He said: “An Arab greeting is celebrated by love and brotherhood, I am honored to transfer it to you from the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, to express happiness with this blessed gathering, which comes within the succession of Arab cultural meetings, mobile between the countries of the great Arab world, through sincere efforts by the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science, whose cooperation with Arab cultural institutions extends, and how dear is this good occasion that we meet today; An occasion to honor His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, with the Order of Arab Cultural Merit.
He added that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah realized the importance of the role of culture in the advancement and development of societies, and the preservation of their origins and generations, and based on this role, His Highness devoted his efforts through a march that spanned more than fifty years in building his community, this march was manifested through the multiple cultural and scientific structures, which resulted in the establishment of theaters and specialized museums, and cultural centers spread throughout the emirate of Sharjah, in addition To a series of public libraries, which celebrates this year the centenary of the establishment of the first library in Sharjah.
He said that in parallel, His Highness founded the various cultural, artistic and reading festivals, between poetry, theater, arts, Arabic calligraphy and book exhibitions, in addition to specialized cultural publications and magazines that spread throughout Awards; As the Sharjah Arab Creativity Award – the first version.
The head of the Culture Department in Sharjah pointed out the importance of the Arab Ocean for His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, saying that His Highness realized the importance of his Arab surroundings, to enhance the cultural march; Cultural cooperation extended to the sisterly Arab countries, which welcomed His Highness’s cultural initiatives through the Arab Theater Authority, which works to revitalize the Arab theater, through the organization of theatrical national festivals, heading the Arab theater festival, which is held every year in an Arab country, and His Highness’s initiatives continued to establish houses for poetry in the Arab world, received by Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco and Mauritania with all the houses To encourage the Arab poetic scene, and poets and writers lead to the revival of evenings and poetry festivals throughout the year.
On the interest of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in the Arabic language, Al -Owais said that the Arabic language was very careful by His Highness, as the historical lexicon of the Arabic language was accomplished, a gift that His Highness is proud to present to his Arabic and Islamic nation, which is the result of a tireless work and effort implemented in a record period of seven years.
