“The United States is serious in walking to put an end to this absurd war.”

She added that Rubio discussed with Lavrov “the next steps in the level of Russian -Ukrainian peace talks, and the need to immediately put the war.”

3 days truce

The phone conversation took place before the announcement of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday a 3 -day truce from 8 to 10, in the framework of the war with Ukraine, coinciding with Moscow celebrations of victory day in World War II.

Rubio said this week may be detailed in assessing efforts to end the war that US President Donald Trump pledged to stop the first day of his presidential term.

In an interview with the “NBC” network on Sunday, Rubio pointed out that there are reasons for optimism, and another calling for realism in connection with opportunities to reach an agreement that ends the conflict that ignited his Russian invasion in February 2022.

He continued: “We have to make a decision on whether we want to continue to engage in this endeavor, or whether it is time to focus on other issues that are no less important, if not more important, sometimes.”
